Special Projects Contractor
Elevate Energy

Laura is a third-generation Realtor, currently serving in national and local roles for the National Association of REALTORS (NAR), including NAR's Green REsource Advisory Council and Real Property Valuation Committee. She is the former co-chair of the Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED) Green MLS Team.

But more importantly, based on a successful effort to save her marriage from battles over the summer thermostat, she's also managed a deep energy retrofit on her home. The project was recognized in Better Homes & Gardens Magazine as the Green Improvements winner in their 2009 Home Improvement Challenge.

Laura uses her joint perspective as a Realtor, efficiency expert, and consumer-advocate to manage Elevate Energy's Value for High Performance Homes Campaign. Her work is proving that market forces rather than policy or legislation can effectively reward consumers for their investment in efficiency, and motivate the next followers to do the same. The campaign is the leading effort to allow the market to respond to voluntary disclosure of green and efficiency data. She's co-authored a paper with National Home Performance Council, Unlocking the Value of an Energy Efficient Home: A Blueprint to Make Energy Efficiency Improvements Visible in the Real Estate Market and helped NAR launch the Green MLS Implementation Guide. Currently she's helping efficiency programs implement seven recommended steps for successfully engaging with the real estate community.
